Dear Members,

We are excited to announce the opening of our golf course for the 2009/2010 Season.  I have personally toured the golf course and it looks as if the over-seeding has really taken shape.  As mentioned in our last correspondence we over-seeded our greens for the very first time.  This means the greens will be a little slow for the first couple of weeks that we are open as we allow the over-seeding to take firm root in the soil. Cutting the greens putting height to quickly can cause the mowers to pull the plant out before it has a chance to establish.  You will also notice a few areas around the collars that are thin, so we will be spot seeding them and working it into the soil while we are open.  The thin spots are due to widening some of areas out and wash outs from slope run off.

The fairways are cut at ¾ inch and will be lowered as the rye grass matures.  We will be spot seeding any areas that are thin, and will be spot watered during the day while temperatures are still high.

Other new areas to take notice of while on the golf course are the extended tee box on hole 15 right in front of the pump house towards the lake.  This change should give a little better angle when teeing off to the fairway.  We also added a back tee for the red markers on top of the hill on #15.  There is also a forward tee added on #9, and for the lower handicapper we added a back tee box on #13 to lengthen the hole. There is a possibility of adding a back tee box on hole 10 in the future.  You will notice that we removed some turf (grass) on holes #2, #3 and #12.  These areas did not come into play and have allowed for a more defined look of the holes.  It also provided us the sod for the bunker renovation.  Additionally it will cut cost of maintaining these areas that were never in play.
